The Illinois Power Agency (IPA) recently conducted a multi-stop Elective Pay roadshow across Illinois to support public and non-profit organizations in accessing federal clean energy credits. During these sessions, IPA provided practical guidance on the mechanics of Elective Pay, its application to specific projects, and information on financing.
Attendees included municipalities, non-profits, school districts, rural electric cooperatives, houses of worship, and park districts in eight cities: Collinsville, Springfield, Peoria, Ottawa, Aurora, Port Barrington, and Evanston. One key takeaway from the sessions was how Elective Pay is the perfect complement to IPA incentives. Since it can be stacked on top of IPA’s REC incentives, organizations can realize the return on investment on their solar installation even sooner.
During these sessions, IPA learned that many eligible organizations don’t know how to use Elective Pay. If you are a tax-exempt public or non-profit organization that purchased a solar installation, you can contact IPA.ContactUs@illinois.gov for free technical assistance through the end of June. You can also direct any eligible organizations in your network to contact IPA for more information.
