Blessing of New Solar Panels & Roof Installation Celebration - Illinois Solar for All
Skip to content

On October 18th, the Episcopal Church of the Atonement in Chicago’s Edgewater neighborhood will hold a community event to bless a new solar panel installation and new roof. In collaboration with the state’s Illinois Solar for All program and several outside stakeholders, Atonement parishioners worked to finalize the solar panel installation in 2026 and received grant funding to replace the church roof in 2024. Going forward, rooftop solar panels and a modernized boiler system will help the parish reduce energy costs and allow the parish to redirect those funds elsewhere. Further, solar panels are a crucial part of Atonement’s Creation Care ministry series, in which the parish takes active steps to prioritize stewardship of our natural world.

The blessing event on October 18th at 10am is open to all. Join Fr. Charles Everson and Richard Benson in Montgomery Hall to learn more about this new installation and the benefits it will bring and meet several community organizations working to care for our creation.
